KIMBERLEY. – Intense police crime prevention, dubbed Operation Basadi, and high police visibility in the Frances Baard Cluster have yielded great results.

Three drug peddlers have been arrested and police have confiscated more than 200 mandrax tablets and dagga worth R25 000.

According to Capt. Olebogeng Tawana, several shebeens were raided in the Galeshewe area and the owners were issued with fines for dealing in liquor illegally.

Two suspects were arrested at the Kimberley-Warrenton hitch-hiking spot after being found in possession of mandrax.

More than 180 train commuters were searched and two men who were suspected to be illegal immigrants were arrested.

A suspect was also arrested for the possession of suspected stolen goods in Windsorton on 10 August. The suspect, Lesedi Setlhabi (22), was arrested and charged and has appeared in court.

In another incident, stolen copper cable was found at a house in Pabelello. A roll of copper cable estimated to have a street value of R40 035 was seized. No one was arrested.

An enquiry has been opened and police investigation continues.
