The police in Kakamas are appealing to the community to assist them in identifying and tracing the next of kin of a man that was found dead on the farm Maraisvlei, next to the Kakamas and Pofadder N14 main road.

It is alleged that on Tuesday, 3 January, the decomposing body of the man, who is estimated to be around 40 to 50 years old, was found under a tree on the farm.

Capt. Francois Steenkamp of the Kakamas police station believed that the body had been lying there for several days.

“The deceased was dressed in beige trousers, a T-shirt with grey, red and black stripes and UZZI shoes.

“There was also a yellow tracksuit top hanging in the tree,” read the statement.

The deceased is described as being about 1,8 m tall and of average build.

The victim has not been reported missing and the police have no further information about his family or people that may know him.

Anyone who can assist the police in finding the next of kin or who may know the deceased is urged to contact Det.Sgt Jaco Basson of the Kakamas Detective Service at 054-431-0863 or 079-567-2555.
