Police need help with finding killers

2017-09-27 06:03

The Welkom police are offering a reward of R20 000 to anyone with information that will assist in finding the killers of Teboho Kotola (20).

Capt. Stephen Thakeng, police spokesperson, says the deceased had been shot dead during an attack by ten unidentified African men.

Kotola had been employed as a security guard.

Thakeng says the deceased had been on duty with a colleague on the night of his murder on 26 June. The deceased and his colleague were attacked by a group of armed men while patrolling an open field along Tempest Road in Welkom.

“Kotola and his colleague were approached by ten unidentified African males,” Thakeng says.

“The attackers started firing shots in the direction of the men, hitting Kotola.”

Thakeng says a while after the attackers had fled, the colleague went to look for the deceased and found him lying in a pool of blood.

“Kotola had two gunshot wounds, one to his right eye and another one to the stomach. He was certified dead on the scene of the crime.”

Thakeng says no arrests have been made and appealed to the community to assist in providing information about the whereabouts of the suspects.

Anyone who has information can contact the investigating officer, WO Dylan Saayman of the Welkom Detective Service, on 057-391-6265 (during office hours) or 084-687-3014.
