Preparation the key

2015-12-02 06:00

JOHANNESBURG. – Lucas Radebe, the former Bafana Bafana defender, has urged national team coach Shakes Mashaba to leave no stone unturned in preparing for the group stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana will find out next year who they will have in their group with the draw taking place in Cairo, Egypt, on 24 June.

Radebe believes Bafana can qualify depending on the research they do on their opponents as he believes there is very little in the field to separate the countries these days.

“It is all about the belief. It is about having a winning mentality.

“At the moment it has been difficult for the team because it has been up and down – getting good results and bad results.

“Obviously that affects your confidence,” Radebe continues.

“The thing about football these days is not just about having quality players, but also about preparation.

“I think that makes a huge difference, because the game has evolved over the years; it is fast, tactical and the technological aspect of the game has improved.

“If Shakes has the backing of Safa in terms of giving him the resources and the backing of the PSL in terms of getting the players that he needs, then that will make a difference,” he added. – KickOff.com
