The Train Music group is rising to greater heights after being nominated for the South African Upcoming Music Awards (Sauma).

The aim of the awards is to recognise excellence in the music industry for upcoming musicians and artists.

The seven-member group was nominated in the category for Best Hip-Hop on the hit song “Tha Aim”.

The band was nominated thanks to this vibrant and rich cultural song.

This song has gained a lot of interest at radio stations and it is listed on several play lists.

The winners in the different categories will be announced on 2 April in the Johannesburg Theatre.

The group consists of members from the Free State’s Goldfields towns of Welkom and Virginia.

The youthful band was established in 2010 when the members realised they have the same inte-rest in the hip-hop genre.

They also have a common inte-rest in doing rap music.

The members are Bongani Nyu-batyha, Thuso Moranyatsi, Lebohang Masakale, Ngakane Lekhoba, Tshepo Malangoanyane, Vuyani Nikani and Ramathe Ramathe. They are managed by Berry Matseletse.

“We are not just rappers. We are all-round creative artists with the same mind-set to sharing ideas to grow in music. Music is our passion. Some of us have known each other for more than a decade through the hip-hop circuit and rap music,” said Ngakane.

The band has been performing at shows in the Free State, the North West Province and Gauteng.

“We have our own hip-hop shows that we are running monthly in Virginia and Welkom. It is helping to grow our support-base,” said Ngakane.
