Rather own up on funds

2015-11-11 06:00

ROY JANKIELSOHN, DA Free State member of parliament:

THE letter “Ensure facts are true” in Express Eastern Free State of Wednesday, 4 November, written by the so-called “Dr” Clem Harrington, refers.

I read with pity Harrington’s tirade against the DA and its councillors.

Firstly, he uses a title that requires further scrutiny.

I have yet to see his PhD thesis and I am unable to find the “University of Alternative Medicine” on the internet from which he received this so-called “doctorate”.

Secondly, Harrington refers to Councillor Ben Venter as “old dry bark” who must be removed by the DA in 2016.

He forgets that the DA threw him out in 2010 because he was not fit to continue as a councillor.

The ANC took him in and now sits with the “old dry bark” to deal with in 2016.

Thirdly, Harrington refers to the DA event attended by Mmusi Maimane in Bohlokong as if the DA was at fault, while the municipal spokesperson has apologised in Express for errors in this regard.

Harrington should rather explain the Dihlabeng Municipality’s blatant abuse of municipal funds and inability to complete housing projects.

While our people are without work, without houses, and without hope, the council spends millions of rands on tents, food, buses and events for their election campaign.

Harrington is responsible for job creation, yet investors are complaining to the DA, because his Economic Development Department is dysfunctional.

Harrington and the ANC do not have the capacity to “ship up” and will be “shipped out” by fed-up residents in 2016.
