THE Department of Economic Development and Tourism in collaboration with the National Department of Tourism held a workshop at the Protea Hotel in Kimberley on Wednesday (15/06).

The idea was to provide an opportunity for stakeholders in the tourism industry to discuss current regulations in respect of tour guiding as stipulated in the Tourism Act, 1993 (Act no. 72 of 1993) and the new 2016 Draft regulations for Tour Guides in the Tourism Ac, 2014 (Act No. 3 of 2014).

This was after the regulations had been published on 15 April for public comment. According to Malane Barlow, communications manager at the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the public had 60 days from this date to comment.
