BAFANA BAFANA coach Shakes Mashaba has named a 25-man squad for the opening 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso and a friendly international against Ghana.

Mashaba has called up new options up front in Bidvest Wits striker Eleazar Rodgers and Polokwane City frontman Thobani Mncwango, while European-based trio Thulani Serero, May Mahlangu and Ayanda Patosi have returned to the squad. Meanwhile, he confirmed that midfielder Andile Jali has been left out due to injury, and will only return to action in three weeks’ time.

Bafana will travel to Ouagadougou to get their qualification campaign on track for a place at Russia 2018, to face their 67th-ranked Group D counterparts on 8 October, with kickoff at 20:00 (South African time).

The same squad will return to face African giants Ghana for a friendly at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday, 11 October. Kick-off is at 19:00. –
