THE South African Breweries (SAB) Central Region delivered more than 30 000 litres of water to the drought-stricken area of Winburg.

On Sunday (13/03), SAB distri-
buted water which was collected from across the country, said Santie Bothma, the founder of the Watergat water distribution point in the Makeleketla township.

Established three months ago, residents can collect water at the Watergat between 16:00 and 18:00 daily.

From here, water is also distri-buted to clinics, police stations, homes for the elderly and welfare organisations.

Jarques Koekemoer, general manager of the SAB Central Region, said they were ploughing back into the community through community initiatives.

“Their well-being and health are a priority to us. Water scarcity has been a major concern throughout South Africa and the Free State is one of the areas that have been highly impacted by this drought,” Koekemoer said. The SAB is planning further initiatives to assist with disaster relief projects.
