BOHLOKONG. Z Finishing third in the Free State Reading Festival is not enough for Nthabiseng Mokoena (15) of the Bethlehem Combined School.

She wants to be at the top.

The gr. 9 learner says she is disappointed with her third place in the Public Speaking category of the festival held in Bloemfontein recently.

“I really wanted to win the competition since this was my last opportunity to do so.

“The competition ends at gr. 9 and I will be in gr. 10 next year,” she said.

Nthabiseng obtained first position in both the municipality and the regional finals.

“It was the first time that I took part in the competition and I managed to qualify for the provincial level. The competition was very tough but at least I came home with something,” she said.

Rapulane Mokhaneli, school principal, believes there is a lot of potential among learners at his school.

“Here are still a lot of diamonds to be uncovered,” he stressed, “and I believe it is only a matter of time before the school will claim its place amongst renowned names like Tiisetsang and Ntsu Secondary, to name a few.”
