LOCAL hip-hop artist Tumelo Motselloa (25), known by stage name Slava, continues hustling for his big break and working his way up the ranks with the release of a new dance single.

The latest project is titled Step By Step and for this he has collaborated with duo group Alah Yen, also from Bloemfontein.

This is his third single, followingMenate Nate in 2015. Slava debuted in the tough music industry with the single Bamp Lepantsola in 2014.

He said he had collaborated with Alah Yen with the main objective to offer good music.

“I have mixed kwaito and hip-hop lyrics in the single. I have done research to find out what people like and what I can offer in the process to meet their expectation,” Slava said.

He exclusively resorted to the concept of local is lekker, working with local artists in the production of the single. He roped in hip-hop producer and songwriter Pule Mogorosi, also known as 2Nyce stet, who is also gradually adapting his career path to reach greater heights.

Slava’s talent earned him the recognition of two accolades at the 2015 Golden Bean Awards – Best Kwaito Act and Best Collaboration. He is currently on tour to promote the latest single which is being played on local community radio stations.

He featured in the line-up of the Back to Kasi Tour in Ficksburg with Alah Yen last month.

Slava says he has plans for touring with other established and upcoming Free State artists. He toured Lesotho’s capital of Maseru as part of Youth Month, marking 40 years of the youth uprising for quality education in South Africa.
