Simeon Vorster (13) has been chosen as the April winner of Express’s Let’s Play Sports Star of the Month.

He was chosen for his excellent achievements in swimming. As a Gr. 7 learner of the Universitas Primary School in Bloemfontein, Simeon also plays rugby for his school.

Simeon is very passionate about sport and his passion has seen him do well and score a variety of achievements.

Achievements include receiving two gold, three silver and bronze medals at this year’s South African Schools Swimming Championship held recently in Polokwane. He was part of the Free State team.

Simeon’s impressive performance saw him improve five records at the Free State Schools Swimming Championship. He was rewarded with four gold and one silver medal.

The rising swimming star is also the official record holder in the Free State 400 m individual medley and 50 m fly (u.12).

At the Junior Nationals in March in Durban, Simeon proved he has what it takes.

He swam in eight of the 11 finals and finished as one of the top five swimmers in his age group in three of his items.

Simeon’s remarkable achievement comes on the back of last year’s success. In December 2016, at the Free State Championship, he also improved two records.
