ORGANISERS of the second annual Summer Music Explosion says security will be tight during Cassper Nyovest’s performance at the Transka Resort on Saturday (19/12).

The Transka Resort is at Warrenton, along the N12 to Christiana.

Mojalefa Maijane of MJM Promotions and Productions, festival organiser, says it is all systems go as far as the venue is concerned.

“The stage team is busy with the settings. We have a tight security team on board and I can state that our people will be safe when they enter the area. We won’t allow weapons upon entrance,” Maijane says.

Hip-hop star Nyovest has confirmed during a radio interview on local radio station RTSfm that he will form part of the music line-up this weekend.

“The Northern Cape is my second home. I will be live this coming Saturday, let everybody come and fill the Transka Resort.”

Nyovest, whose real name is Refiloe Phoolo, will be supported by well-known local-based DJs such as Duke Soul, Tshego Gemini Major, Scott, Collin Carey, Chipzitto, Lloyd, Cool C, Nimza and the eight-year-old music sensation from Vryburg, MC Tsotso.

Two Motsweding FM bad boys, Papa and Big Boy, will be part of the line-up, including Shimza, Finzo of Lesedi FM, PK, KG from Pretoria and Cassper’s frequent collaborator, Ricky Rick.

Ricky Rick will surely perform songs off his album Family Values, such as “Boss Zonke”, “Better Dayz” and “Mswenkofontein”.

Who knows, he might perform a collaboration with Nyovest on a booming new track, “Fuseg”, which is built on a pitched-up sample and distorted bars.

Lesedi FM music compiler and international acclaimed DJ Finzo will be participating in the festival for a second time.

“I was in the Transka Resort last year and I must say that the place was on fire. The people of the Northern Cape are fun lovers. They should come in their numbers because they are going to have fun all the way,” Finzo says.

He recently perfomed overseas and listeners of the popular Lesedi FM afternoon drive show, Re Ya Kubeletsa, presented by Twasa and Ba2cada, can listen to his mix weekdays.

The Kimberley-based Duke Soul who started his musical journey as a percussionist in 2001 at the age of 13, is expected to wow his fans with sounds from his debut album Homemade.

He is working on a new album and some of the tracks will be played at the resort.

DJ Scott, originally from Upington, has indicated that the Saturday night will be fun filled.

“Night revellers can expect one of the best performances of the year,” Scott says.

“Our people can get their tickets at a Computicket near them. This year we are going big, hence we are bringing on board Cassper Nyovest. He is loved by people from all the corners of the country,” says Maijane.

“The artists and DJs in our line-up are making national and international headlines.

“Nyovest has won a number of awards this year and he is trending on Twitter and other social media platforms.”

Tickets for the festival are available at Computicket in Shoprite and Checkers at R120. It costs R150 at the gate. To buy a Golden ticket, you will need R250 and VIP tickets cost R400.

Discounted tickets are available for group bookings.
