The Sol Plaatje University (SPU) hosted the two-day cross-country athletics championship event of University Sports South Africa ­(USSA) for 2017.

The event started at the Diskobolos Military Base’s track on Friday (29/09) and proceeded to the Central Campus on Saturday (30/09).

Hosted in collaboration with Athle-tics South Africa (ASA), the event saw athletes participating in the 4 x 4 km for men, the 3 x 2 km for women and mixed 2 x 2 x 2 km relay races.
