Bloemfontein-based amateur outfit Action Spar looks forward to the future after qualifying for promotion play-offs to the third-tier rank of the South African Football Association (Safa).

This team from Ipopeng will compete against the winner of Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu for a slot in the SAB Regional League.

Only two of the three clubs will be promoted to the third-tier league for the new season of 2017-’18.

Action Spar achieved this goal to compete in the promotion play-offs after winning the Interstate Bus Line-Safa Promotion League stream of Bloemfontein.

The league is played in Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu.

Action Spar displayed consistency throughout the season and finished undefeated in the Bloemfontein stream.

Ikaneng Modise, Action Spar’s coach, attributed the club’s achievement to the dedication and determination of the players.

“The club is looking forward to campaign in the SAB Regional League in the 2017-’18 season,” said Modise.

Action Spar players were not deterred by the unconducive environment that surrounded them.

The team’s players had to contend with crime, such as rampant gangster groupings dominated by their peers.

“The players managed to ignore all these things and remain focused on the goal – to win the league and be promoted to the upper division,” said Modise.

The football federation in Mangaung and clubs have congratulated Action Spar on their promotion to the upper rank.

Action Spar will be awarded at the Safa Mangaung Local Football Association’s year-end prize-giving ceremony to be held soon.
