B ETHLEHEM. – Job Tshabalala, who was a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Finance at the Dihlabeng Local Municipality, has died.

He passed away in the early hours of Sunday (26/06) at the Mediclinic Hoogland in Bethlehem following a long illness.

Tshediso Maitse, the communication manager at the municipality, has confirmed the passing of Tshabalala.

In a statement released by the ANC in the Thabo Mofutsanyana Region, they have stated that they were deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely departure of Comrade Tshabalala.

“This is a moment of great pain and grief for the family of Comrade Job and his movement, the ANC.

“We have lost a larger-than-life individual who was selfless, hardworking, committed and dedicated. In him we saw ourselves.

“Tshabalala served the organisation in different capacities. At the time of his passing, he was MMC for Finance in the Dihlabeng Local Municipality and regional elections team coordinator in Thabo Mofutsanyana. He died in the early hours of this morning following a long battle with illness,” the statement reads.

It was further stated that his death came at a critical time, when the organisation he had served all his life was confronted with the herculean task of winning elections, which was a subject dear to his heart.

“In this critical phase of our struggle, we needed many Job Tshabalalas. Because of this, all of us know that it was not time to lose him.

“It is certainly a matter of great pain for many of us who had the privilege to work with him.

“Because of his untimely death he will no longer provide the necessary guidance as we traverse our journey to a truly united, non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous South Africa,” the statement reads.

Express Eastern Free State would like to express its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Tshabalala and the municipality as a whole.
