Orlando Pirates fans will have to put their thinking caps back on ahead of the Carling Black Label Champions Cup game against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday (29/07) following the departure of the team’s goalkeeper, Brighton Mhlongo, to Chippa United.

Mhlongo was the leading man in terms of votes for a starting position in the showpiece fixture.

Now, however, coaches are left with the task of choosing between the four remaining keepers in the club, which includes new signee Wayne Sandilands, an arrival from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Also in the mix is Siyabonga Mpontshane, Jackson Mabok-gwane and the young Nigerian Emmanuel Daniel.

Sandilands is a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League winner with Sundowns, having played in the second leg of the 2016 final when the Brazilians defeated Zamalek in Alexandria.

He is in his 13th season as a player in the South African top-flight, and is undoubtedly the most experienced of the Bucs keepers.

Mpontshane ended the 2016-’17 season as the first choice keeper and played in the Nedbank Cup final.

He shared the duties with Mabokgwane, who played through most of May and kept three clean sheets in a row.

Daniel only arrived towards the end of the season and has yet to make his Premier Soccer League debut.

Fans who want to see their top pick between the goalposts against Kaizer Chiefs are urged to use the remaining two days before the game to get voting.
