Multi-talented Nielbert Mostert (15) has been chosen as September’s winner of the Express Let’s Play Sports Star of the Month for his achievements in three sports categories.

He defies the odds in athletics, para-cycling and wrestling for the physically disabled.

Nielbert is a Gr. 9 learner of the Sentraal High School in Bloemfontein.

At this year’s Nedbank Championship for the Physically Disabled in Port Elizabeth, Nielbert scooped three gold medals compe-ting in the category (T-13) for the visually impaired.

He obtained three gold medals in the 400 m, 800 m and long jump.

For his milestones, Nielbert was also awarded the Hein Wagenaar trophy as the best visually impaired athlete at the games.

In the VI category in para-cycling (tandem) with his pilot, Carlyle Stewart, he won four gold medals in the four different distance events, setting a South African record.

Nielbert also won a silver medal at the 2017 u.15 South African Wrestling Championship in the 42 to 47 kg category.
