Winning side earns praise

2016-10-05 06:00

PITSO MOSIMANE, the head coach of the Pretoria giants Mamelodi Sundowns, heaped praise on Gavin Hunt and Bidvest Wits for winning the MTN8 trophy.

He said it is good for South African football.

Mosimane’s side was completely outplayed as Bidvest Wits ran out with 3-0 as winners in the final round at the Mbombela Stadium.

Hunt won his first piece of silverware for the Clever Boys.

The Sundowns coach was magnanimous in defeat.

Mosimane admitted their opponents deserved the victory.

“They were the better team.

“I’m happy for the team, I’m happy for Gavin Hunt and I can see his broad smile.

“God loves us all. Gavin won his first trophy. He deserves a trophy, he has been fighting and fighting,” Mosimane said on SuperSport after the match.

“We can’t win them all. We need to focus on the one in Cairo where we have got bigger things to achieve.

“My boys played well and we showed character.

“That’s part of football, we will play top eight again next year.

“Last week I said I’m happy for Steve (Komphela at Kaizer Chiefs) to win.

“You could see that we didn’t have the legs, but we accept it.

“Well done to Wits and Brian Joffe. He has invested a lot of money and at least he sees a trophy now.

“Let’s all win, it’s good. We have to share these things,” Mosimane ended his praise for Bidvest Wits.
