FOUR women were injured on Monday morning (28/03) after their vehicle had overturned on the N1, 60 km outside Bloemfontein in the Free State.

Police spokesperson, sgt Thabo Litabe, said the incident happened on Monday after midnight near Verkeerdevlei.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle lying on its side some distance away from the road.

On inspection, paramedics found that four occupants had been inside at the time of the incident.

Paramedics assessed the injured on the scene. One had been seriously injured, while the remaining women had sustained only moderate injuries.

The women were treated for their injuries, and provided with advanced life support treatment.

The seriously-injured occupant was then airlifted to the Pelonomi Hospital, while the remaining three were transported by ambulance. Litabe said the occupants of the vehicle had been travelling to Bloemfontein from Vrede.

A case of reckless driving is being investigated.
