PREPARATIONS are on track for the Free State to select the u.19 women’s football squad for the national championship.

The five regions, Xhariep, Mangaung, Lejweleputswa, Thabo Mofutsanyana and Fezile Dabi have each selected 16 player to be trialled at the provincial final selection on 17 September in Bethlehem.

Klip Moremi, Safa’s provincial manager, said from 80 players the provincial head coach Mamsy Malaku will select a strong team of 18 players as determined by the federation.

He said head coach Malaku, former Banyana Banyana player, is expected to announce the team going to the u.19 women’s national tournament after the provincial trial.

Moremi said the 18-squad team will then be sharpened for this year’s national women’s championship to be staged in Mogale City in Gauteng.

The national tournament will be hosted from 26 September till 1 October. He said Phera Ratlhankana and Ishmael Mokitlane, former Bloemfontein Celtic and Manning Rangers player, will assist Malaku with the selection of players.
