When you do something, do it with all your heart and all your being. If you are unable to commit wholeheartedly, rather refuse, so that somebody who has the time and the energy can do the work.

We are so busy running around and trying to be everything to everyone, it results in us becoming exhausted.

Even if you are talented and skilled, always choose where you will make an impact. Some people agree to assist and when they have to deliver, they have excuses. Do not overload yourself, otherwise you will end up being useless.

When we agree to participate in something, onlookers often think they can do it better. I dislike it when somebody is criticised by people, while the person is doing his or her best. Onlookers can point to all of someone’s faults. There will always be the know-all.

Should you ask these people (the critics) to participate, they often have all sorts of excuses.

I was once angry when somebody criticised one of the soccer leaders, simply because he looked down on the leader. I thought by myself that, although this leader may not be educated or be able to speak English well, history would remember what he had done.

What about you, the critic? Only a handful of people know you.

My late friend and colleague, when he argued with someone, used to say: “Let’s google you and see what Google says about you.”

He would then brag.

“I have written and presented articles at conferences and seminars and Google can attest to that.”

People sometimes think they are more important than others. They look at you as a person and forget to consider your contribution to society. You may look down on me and think I do not deserve the accolades, but do not forget the contribution I am making to society.

I was humbled by one person who said: “Please know that you inspire me and you are my role model”.

Looking at myself and all the criticism I get, it has made me appreciative of the small contribution I am making.

While other people may look down on you, there could be one person out there who your words or your deeds have helped.

As a lesson, do not look down on people and undermine them. They may not be as eloquent or as educated as you, but those could be the people who are making a difference.

Instead of complaining and criticising from outside, get your hands dirty and improve life for others.
