THE result of the 2016 Tekkie Tax campaign was released today during the annual Tekkie Telebration function. South Africa came together and raised R8,4 million on 27 May. This unique fund-raising campaign is now standing at a total of more than R22 million over the last four years.

Tekkie Tax raises funds for five sectors - animals, bring hope, children, disability and education.

In 2015, 449 companies participated, but in 2016,

Tekkie Tax had 952 companies on board. More than 100 000 pairs of shoelaces were sold this year. FNB sold the highest number of stickers and tags of all participating companies.

The founder and patron of Tekkie Tax, Annelise de Jager, said: “I am extremely grateful for the growth that this campaign has shown over the past four years, but most of all, I am proud to see the difference we are making in the lives of people and animals. Thank you to each and every one of our thousands and thousands of supporters.”

For the Tekkie Tax team there is no rest. They are already working full steam on the 2017 campaign. Calls for commitment have already gone out to various businesses, welfare organisations, schools and every person who can to support the campaign for 2017.

Remember, National Tekkie Tax Day is on 26 May, 2017.
