A sound mind means a healthy life

2015-10-21 06:00

OCTOBER is a mental health-promoting month where we stand strongly against substance abuse of whoonga, dagga, glue, cocaine and where we, the Department of Health, places emphasis on detecting and managing depression. To avoid mental illness it is vital to take your medication as prescribed, eat healthily, exercise and visit your nearest PHC facility or alternatively consult a psychologist or psychiatrist if stressed and experiencing fatigue.

On Friday 23 October the Umvoti community is invited to join the Department of Health and the Department of Sport and Recreation in a provincial mental health awareness and healthy lifestyle event. The MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will lead a 2.6km walk that will start from Greytown Hospital at 8am and finish at King Edward Park where the main event will take place. The intention is to promote a healthy lifestyle in the workplace.

For more information, contact local leadership, Mrs. S.G. Ngubane, PHC supervisor or Mbali Ntshingila, PRO on 033 413 9400 or 071 055 2820 or email sethabile.ntshingi la@kznhealth.gov.za - Greytown Hospital management.
