A NEW security fence put up in June at the Greytown Sewerage Works has been cut by a gang of youngsters who climb through to swim in the sewer works.

Apart from the danger of drowning, as most of the youngsters cannot swim, the water in the tank has been chemically treated so there could be a problem with toxicity.

An alert and concerned resident, who took this photograph, told the Greytown Gazette, that the youngsters had also vandalised the notice (which can be seen on the fence), by blocking out the word "NO" to leave "swimming allowed".

According to reports, the children concerned attend primary schools so this is an urgent appeal to all primary schools and parents to ensure their children do not use this as a swimming pool please, before a disaster happens and a lives could be lost.
