ONE of Greytownand#039;s most gracious old homes, owned by Errol and Debbie Rottcher, was destroyed by fire last Friday night.

The Durban Street home was burnt as the Greytown Fire Department struggled with a shortage of water to put the flames out.

In typical Greytown spirit, fire-fighting vehicles and personnel from Bracken and Mondi were called to the scene and did their utmost to put the fire out and many friends were there to support the family.

In a message of appreciation the family said: and#034;To all the wonderful people of Greytown, a big thank you from the Rottcher family for all your assistance during and after the fire. A special word of thanks to Bracken and Mondi for your help in trying to put out the fire. It truly makes us proud to be Greytonians. We have a fantastic, generous community.

“Thank you.and#039;and#039;
