‘Godzilla’ drought

2015-10-07 06:00

LAKE Merthley is 13% full, and yet there are still Greytonians irresponsibly filling up container after container at JoJo tanks out of their area of residence. These tanks were installed to assist residents when the water is turned off between 8am and 4pm and 8pm and 4am, not for washing vehicles and definitely not for resale.

The prospect of rain is not encouraging as El Niño takes hold. The SA Weather Service states that the period from July 2014 to June this year has been the driest since 1900. KZN has recorded a below normal rainfall since March 2014.

With the dramatic increase in temperatures everyone is urged to save water and be prepared for a long, hot, dry summer. A more detailed report will be published in next week’s issue
