PRECIOUS Shezi, Grade 6 pupil at Greytown Primary School, has made her school proud by representing the Umzinyathi district in the Spelling Bee competition held in Durban recently.

Precious and fellow classmate, Sameera Ramphal, qualified to represent Umvoti circuit­ at district level after competing against 60 participants, making it into the top three.

At district level in Dundee, Precious reached the finals and was one of three pupils selected to represent the district at provincial level. At provincial level in Durban, Precious was eliminated in round five. This was a great achievement considering that the sixth round was the last and final round.

Pupils were given a list of 1 250 words to learn and were tested on the words on the list at the circuit and district competition.
