Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2015-06-03 06:01

THE 2015 racing season has started and once again we are geared up and ready to go.

One face missing was that of Attie Joubert who has been seriously ill, but is now on the road to a full recovery. From your fellow club members we wish you well and hurry back because we miss you.

We also take this opportunity to welcome new member Chris Uys to the fold and hope your stay will be long and successful when you start flying next season.

On Thursday 28 May we basketted for Vrede, a distance of 214kms. This was an open race and liberation time was 8am, liberated in fine weather with no wind. The winning pigeon was clocked at 10.56am to the loft of Naicker Bros who continue their dominance from last year. The winning velocity was 1212 metres per minute. They also claimed third, fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth positions from their 10 birds sent.

The and#034;old grizzleand#034; managed to clock second and fifth from five sent while MLofts unfortunately did not have a bird on the day - obviously they walked home.

It was quite a hard race as the last day bird was clocked at 16.36 ton set a velocity of 412 metres per minute - not even a Comrades qualifier.

All races this season are basketted on Thursdays, which is designed to give the birds more time to settle at race point.

Results of Saturdayand#039;s race:

Naicker Bros - 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 1212.337, 951.609, 943.476, 421.972, 421.638, 417.677, 412.976.

T.R.Tatham: 2nd, 5th, 1065.245, 628.727.

Next week is another Vrede open - good flying
