OUR Little Oaks are beginning to explore the world of science. “Rolling activities” present opportunities to explore the principles of science and engineering and the Grade R pupils discovered how some objects roll or slide easily while other objects do not, which led to a debate about the difference between “sliding” and “rolling”. They made predictions (hypotheses) about which objects would slide and which would roll before dividing into groups to try out different objects and to record their findings, before discussing the results. Hands-on learning is always the best way to keep pupils engaged and interested.
