WHEN the students began computer studies at the beginning of the year, it seemed like a and#034;mission impossible” for them to accomplish.

But their dreams came true when they gradated on 31 August at Masharps College in Kranskop.

Speakers and guests from uMvoti Municipality and KZN graced the occasion.

Guest speaker, Mr Z. Mnyaka, Ngcolosi High School principal, emphasised the importance of education in general, and technology in particular.

and#034;In addition to saving money and time, technology helps you do many things at the same time which improves personal productivity,and#034; he said, a sentiment that was agreed upon by other speakers.

There was also plenty of entertainment, items included poetry from Miss Khombisile Mhlongo and Mr Khokhelo Dube) and Sicathamiya traditional music by Abafana BaseNkuzini.

After awarding certificates to the graduates, there was a prize giving at which four students received awards.

Certificates of Achievement were awarded to Ms Nontobeko Xulu (Overall Best Student) and Ms Zandile Jwara (Academic Excellence).

Certificates of Appreciation went to Ms Mirriam Xulu and Miss Noxolo Ndlovu. Judging by the high standard of this inaugural graduation, we, as the community and teachers at Masharps College, look forward to the next one at the end of the year.

- Mr F.N. Masikane, Masharps College headmaster
