TRAINING for athletics is one of the highlights of the year for most children at New Hanover Prep School and this year was no exception. Congratulations to the junior victrix and victor ludorum, Cora Barnard and Tristan Wolhuter who both broke numerous records. Cora broke the U11 girls’ 100m record, the girls’ U11 hurdles record as well as the girls’ U11 80m record. Tristan broke the U11 boys’ 1200m record as well as the boys’ U11 hurdles record. The senior victrix and victor ludorum­ were Lauren Botha and Kwazi Tenza respectively. Other records were broken by Philippa Braithwaite, Melissa Dobeyn­, Miles Wolhuter and Benjamin­ Hough. Six relay records were also broken causing a nail-biting finish to the day, with Rietbok taking the lead throughout. Well done to all athletes who participated with such enthusiasm and determination.
