St Cathryn’s news

2015-04-30 13:56

GOLFERS know that April is and#034;Augustaand#034; month on the golfing calendar, but in the same month it is the Tuta Carriers St Cathrynand#039;s club champs and we remind all our members about this very competitive team-building golfing experience.

Not only will you be crowned the Tuta Carriers St Cathrynand#039;s champion, you will also win a prize and be able to select your bar stool around the bar for the rest of the year.

Our programme is as follows - the official draw to be done on Thursday and tee-off from 10.30am on Saturday. After golf we have our traditional bring-and-braai and discuss the highs and lows of the day.

Early to bed for the leader in the clubhouse, and the rest of you read the latest Jack Nicklaus golfing manual.

Sunday morning golfers at the back of the field will follow the mowers out and we tee off in three balls again and await the club champion on 18 April. After prize giving and mingling with divisional winners we have lunch after our sponsor Geoff Newlands has handed out the prizes and said a few words about his Tuta Carriers transport company.

The course will be set up with three difficult, three medium and three easier pin positions. At the time of going to press a light verticutting and dusting of the greens was taking place with water being applied to all greens. The rough will be left to be known as and#034;rough is toughand#034; and the beers will be chilled. After all, to be crowned Tuta Carriers St Cathrynand#039;s club champion for 2015, you deserve the honour like so many others have done before.

A special reminder is also that the top eight players in club championships qualify for the match-play finals on the weekend of 6 and 7 June, where the winner wins the Nel Blue jacket.

Come and support the club champs. Visitors who would like to be part of the weekend feel free to join us, but please make meal bookings.

Our St Cathrynand#039;s classic has been postponed due to an administrative glitch and members and sponsors will be notified in due course about a possible new date. This, being our annual fundraiser, is traditionally played in the format of 4BBBS.

This Friday, 17 April the Kranskop Farmers’ Association will be holding its annual general meeting and dinner and the clubhouse will be closed for this private function.
