OUR clubhouse last Friday was filled to the brim with standing room only, when 73 Book Club members packed into the clubhouse to enjoy Ernie and Ann Hewittand#039;s lamb curry.

In a fun snap survey, it was found that there were three hairdressers, one pastor, six teachers, 13 farmers, two nurses, two shebeen owners, one green keeper, one-and- half plant pathologists, a welder, a plumber, two men on crutches and many more fun statistics of some of people from the district in the club.

Seven of St Cathrynand#039;s golfers travelled to Mandini on Sunday morning to play in the triangular tournament, this time hosted by Mandini (and on 11 October to be hosted by Darnall).

As most of KZN is gripped in a drought, we were met by a golf course taking strain in the drought. Now the newly engraved floating trophy was awaiting its new temporary owners, as St Cathrynand#039;s were the current holders of the trophy.

Results: 1st Darnall 31.6 average points, 2nd St Cathrynand#039;s 31.14 average points, 3rd Mandini 29.58 average points. Nearest to pin, 3rd Rudy Williamson. Nearest to pin, 16th Brent Barkhuizen, best individual scores. 1st Matthew van Rooyen, 42 points, 2nd, Rajen Naidoo 40 points, 3rd, Deon van Dyk 37 points.

The Sanlam Cansa challenge is to be played on Saturday 25 July and will be combined with the playing of the Farmers Agri-Care Monthly Mug. This again is one of those very interesting golf scoring days at St Cathrynand#039;s - nedal for mug and the individual stableford for the Sanlam Cansa challenge.

Winners of each division qualify for the regional finals at Princeand#039;s Grant and from there the next round where the winners then qualify to play at Sun City.

The planning for the KZNGU inter-club is under way and interested golfers must contact Dieter Meyer as he is the nominated player captain and player manager. The date for this golfing tournament is 30 and 31 October and this year Sel-bourne, Umdoni and Scottburgh will be our hosts.

On Friday Kranskop farmers will share the results of their annual game count at the club. Supper will be pork chops and vegetables, with bruin pudding, custard and ice cream.

Booking must be made by Thursday morning at radio call- up, or SMS Piet on 083 269 1661.

Cost of the meal will be for each farmer’s pocket - R70 for adults and R35 for children
