THE St Cathryn’s Plennegy golf teams that represented the club at the KwaZulu-Natal golf union’s interclub tournament at three courses on the South Coast gave it their best “shot” – no pun intended. The three teams consisting of two Frog and one senior Frog team played at Umkomaas, Selborne and Umdoni courses.

The team left early Thursday , to “ acclimatise” and played a practice round on the way down. The format is medal stableford and handicap is added at the end. The best St Cathryn’s individual player was Jarred Manser, one of the “troubles” of Mansers.

The spirit that prevailed was good, and many new friends and golfing mates were made.

Over the weekend the teams agreed to grow their “Movember moustaches” and at this time our thoughts and prayers go to Lindsey Oliver, a team member from Darnall. Lindsey vasbyt, we know you can and we missed seeing you at interclub.

Results: senior Frogs: 41st position, 172 points, Frogs: team 2 - 23rd position, 182 point, team 1 - 30th position, 177 points.

At an impromptu meeting over the weekend, members discussed the possibility of entering a team into the Midlands league, as well as attendance at Monthly Mug and sponsorship and support issues.

More information will be given at a later stage.

Thanks must go to team members for their support, and special thanks to Dieter Meyer, the team manager for his organising and to Plennegy for the wonderful sponsorship.

Thank you to Tuta Carriers for the loan of the trailer and to the St Cathryn’s Club for their contribution and payment of the entry fee.

Team psychologist Brent Barkhuizen, thank you for keeping the team spirit high.

The next Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug will be played on 28 November and please, note the December Monthly Mug and Mug of Mugs will be played on a new date on 12 and 13 December.

On Friday 6 November we will have a bring-and-braai, with pap and sous and salads.
