THE PA would like to thank the parents and staff who helped at this weekend’s MTB, without you these events would not be possible and we had great fun working together.

A big thank you to all our sponsors - we so appreciate your support time and time again. We also thank Ceyanne Scott particularly because she helped organise pupils to assist and offered up her weekend to help in whichever way she could. She is a star.

The PA is also proud of all the pupils who helped over the weekend - thank you so much for giving up your precious time. Well done to those who stopped their races to help injured friends - this shows compassion and integrity. And most importantly, to each pupil who took part in the races – you made Wembley proud.

The Grade 5 class travelled to Howick to the WESSA Umgeni Nature Reserve, and spent the night at a beautiful, rustic camp site. Pupils were treated to many educational workshops which included skull and bone identification, river ecology, team building, an obstacle course, educational games on the greenhouse effect, hiking poetry in action and an old time favourite “stalk the lantern”. The pupils’ bonds were strengthened and they enjoyed themselves in the beautiful surroundings.

JP Anti-Bullying Week

Before you speak think and be smart - it is hard to heal a broken heart. This week the JPs learnt valuable skills and lessons to combat bullying in our school. We learnt to think before saying something.

T - is it true?

H - is it helpful?

I - is it inspiring?

N - is it necessary?

K - is it kind?

Milla, Ludwig and Nicola Herbst participated in the 2015 SA Stillwater Lifesaving National Championships at Kings Park Pool and uShaka Beach in Durban last week. It was a tiring four-day competition, but all three did extremely well and achieved excellent results. Nicola came home with four medals, three of which were bronze, and one silver and a national ranking of third in the girls’ eight-year category. Ludwig has been ranked fourth nationally this year in the boys’ 10-years category. Milla received six medals, four of which are gold and two silver. She is ranked fifth nationally in the girls’ 13-year category.

The KZN team won the open water competition for the first time since 2011 and they also won the overall competition for the first time since 1998.
