ON Saturday 16 May, Hapson Mushoriwa, Nhlakanipho Mkhize and Ross van Rooyen took part in the Aquilibrium Competition hosted by the South African Institute for Civil Engineers (Saice) in Pietermaritzburg at St Charles College.

Pupils were required to construct a network of pipes allowing three litres of water to be evenly distributed into three separate containers. Each millilitre over or under the one-litre mark resulted in that team earning penalty points and the team with the least number of penalty points won.

As it was Wembleyand#039;s first time taking part in this competition, we didnand#039;t know what to expect, but we are very proud to say we won.

The three pupils and Ms Bothe will be going forward to the national competition in Johannesburg soon.

Friday proved to be a very busy day as it was Tekkie Tax Day. Hooked on Books was here in the Aloe Hall and it was also the first day of our Clash of the Leopards weekend. Thank you to all pupils who bought their shoelaces - with your help we really can make a difference. From the SP phase, thank you to the SP parents who hosted Felixton pupils, we know that they were in good hands.

On Friday 22 May the JP phase had trouble climbing out of bed and came to school with their pyjamas on. Fun was had from RRRR through to Grade 3. Feeling snug as a bug in our jammies, we drank hot chocolate with marshmallows and listened to teachers tell stories. We got to curl up during the day with our blanket, pillow and a book anywhere in the class for silent reading time.

While walking through the school last week, you mightand#039;ve noticed Dalmatians, Cruela De Vil, leopards, Old MacDonald, Paddington Bear and many other book characters getting ready for school. Our book character day was a huge success and the children had so much fun identifying their friendsand#039; book characters.

They also got a chance to show off their costumes in the hall in front of moms and dads and explain who they were. Thank you to all the parents who came and supported this event.

Congratulations to Kyra Wallace and Micayla Reineke on being selected to represent the KZN U18 Country Districts team. The team will go on tour to Potchefstroom from 6 to 9 July. We wish them the best of luck for their preparations for this tournament.

On Saturday, 23 May, Joshua and Matthew Cope took part in the KZN schools MTN biking trials. The boys did well and were awarded medals for their efforts. Matthew was entered as an U8 and was the youngest participant in the event. Similarly on Sunday, Joshua and Matthew took part in the Shongweni Compendium Challenge hosted by ROAG and St Marys School. Both boys did very well on this technical course
