ON Friday 12 June Grade 1 pupils went on class trips to farms in our area.

On Friday, at Andy and Vanessa Mason’s farm, we had a chance to smell wood chips while pupils picked and crushed the leaves of Eucalyptus saplings and discovered it smells just like Zambuk.

Each child got a chance to spray a few weeds in the plantation and test their strength stripping bark. Thanks to Andy and Vanessa for a wonderful morning on your farm, as well as the pleasant picnic in your garden. Our thanks are also extended to parents who helped with transport.

On Wednesday our class was off on another farm adventure. This one was to the Crowe’s farm. We fed a calf and had some close-up time with a foal. There was a horse being re-shoed and we saw them cleaning his hoof. After some brisk walking we saw a Bell Loader picking up timber and pirouetting around to drop it off on a truck. Grade 1 pupils had the chance to ride a pony during their picnic in the garden. Thank you to Rupert and Sally Crowe for a chance to be on your farm. We had so much fun.
