Arcadia news

ON Sunday 25 June, 36 enthusiastic bowlers arrived at Greytown Bowling Club to participate in the Arcadia fun bowls event and what a pleasant affair it was.

We at Arcadia thank participants for making it all possible and most importantly, for the
donations and generous sponsorships.

Arcadia manager Wessel Pretorius said Greytown and the District Council for the Care of the Aged (GADCCA) was established and registered as a welfare organisation on 23 November 1962.

Community members and churches of the district gave their all to realise this dream of a cottage scheme for elderly people - a senior service centre and a nursing home for the aged.

"Many years have passed and these facilities are still operating and serving the community. Arcadia has many friends that support us in many ways, but the awareness, involvement and interest of the community in GADCCA as such, seems to be waning.

“On Thursday 27 July the Arcadia AGM will be held at the senior service centre at 3 pm. This is a very important event for the council and we invite all interested community members to please attend our meeting and be part of the future of this council.”
