THOSE interested in the protection of cranes, Blue Swallows and Oribis in Umvoti is invited to a presentation on the work of the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) and the KZN Crane Foundation, and how landowners can get involved in the conservation of these species.

The meeting will be held on Friday, 10 February at 5pm for 4.30pm in the Pannar Room at the Greytown Country Club.

Mathew Becker of the EWT will talk about the general status of the crane populations in the Umvoti area, the custodian process, what the EWT does, and how landowners can become custodians.

Ryne Ferguson will talk on the KZN Crane Foundation, the Wattled crane-rearing facility and how it works, and Charlie MacGillivary will talk about integrating conservation in farming. This meeting is especially important for farmers and landowners who are keen to assist the work of these worthy institutions through the custodianship programmes, details of which will be given at the mee- ting.
