MANDELA Day was a beacon of hope for an elderly couple in Enhlalakahle. Their home has been crumbling and collapsing around them and they did not have the resources to sort it out.

But Project Republic decided its Mandela Day project would be to assist in a sustainable assisgnment. The group is building a mud home, unfortunately, the family is not the legal occupant of that piece of land so a permanent structure cannot be built.

Spokesperson for Project Republic, Dumi Mduli, said they are grateful for the donations received from Aheers Build & Save, Brokersure, Esethu Isipho Construction and Hill Forestry and ward councillor Vukani Sibisi is also involved in the project.

In addition the community will benefit from a much appreciated donation of vegetable seeds from Starke Ayres - Project Republic will initiate a community vegetable garden.

An appeal to complete the building of the house to make Mandela Day more than just one day - human power is needed as well as beds, cupboards, blankets and food projects.

If you can assist, contact Vukani Sibisi on 076 695 7134), Dumi Mdluli (060 997 2703) or email projectsrepublic@gmail.com
