Daddy’s four-a-side tennis tournament

WELL done to the tennis committee for conceptualising the fun, four-a-side tennis tournament which took place in March and April, with 12 teams participating.
The rules of the game are each team has boys and girls between the ages of nine and 90, who are not allowed to smash or hit the ball hard. Play is continuous, with a siren alerting teams, and the music to start playing.

The overall winners of the tournament were Indoor Continuous Plennegy Tennis Association (captained by Michael Yeadon). The runners-up were the Dirt Balls (captained by Linda Pieterse). The best-dressed team award went to Mike Barrow’s team – the EFF in EFFs, while the award for the best team name went to the Terminettors (captained by Jack Ridl).

Many fines were handed out for various misdemeanours on the court - fresh airs, smashing, screaming, arriving in work clothes, picking on weak opponents, hottest legs, most casual serves, most competitive family, and even the best hair-colour-coding. Many people stayed to enjoy the braai after prize-giving.

Thank you to Daddy’s Garage for sponsoring the tournament. This is a wonderful community event which has re-ignited enthusiasm for the good spirit of tennis. Let’s keep the momentum going for the next tournament which will take place in the Sprint Keep calm and play more tennis.
