Deepavali message from Mr Vee Maharahj, president of Shri Vishnu Mandir

2016-10-26 06:00

DEEPAVALI, meaning a row of lights, has once again dawned upon us and as we progress on our spiritual journey, we come across may obstacles.

Be like that lamp that burns not for itself, but for the benefit of others - this dispels our own darkness.

Bring joy to others - be like the tree that does not eat its fruit or the river that does not drink its water but without any quest for reward to do their duty.

This is the message of Deepavali.

The Hindu women play a major role in all our festivals and Deepavali showcases their talents of baking, preparing sweetmeats and decorating our homes. Adorned in their loveliest finery in anticipation of the day long festivities which includes prayer, exchange of gifts, sweetmeats and greetings, our ladies become Laxmi, Goddess of abundance light and love.

Whether it be the return of Shri Raam and Mother Sitha to Ayodhya or the defeat of Narkasur by Shri Krishna -the message is universal "Let the light of love, unity and happiness permeate continuously."

On behalf of the officials and members of the Shri Vishnu Mandir I extend best wishes to all on this very auspicious festival of Deepavali. May Sri Raam guide, bless and protect you always.

Deepavali hawan and Govardhan Pooja will be held at the Temple on Saturday 2 October at 2.30pm. All are lovingly invited to attend. The Sabha humbly thanks all donors who so lovingly contributed towards the food hampers, which were distributed to the needy.
