LETCEE was one of the recipients of a donation from Mr and Mrs Michael Yeadon after the Majozi-Ruby Gill concert.
We used the money to improve the facilities at the Izingane Zethu Centre in lower Cooper Street.

The centre provides a pre-school programme for 30 children in the mornings, and is a safe place for the children to play in the afternoons. There is a supervised homework club and before the exams in June and November, the centre opens in the evenings so pupils can study in a quiet place.

The centre provides meals to 100 children every day. Pupils can have breakfast before going to school, and return for a snack in the afternoon, while the younger children have a cooked meal at lunch time. At weekends and during the school holidays everyone receives a cooked meal.

The donation has enabled us to install a wood-burning stove in the covered veranda where the children eat. This not only saves Letcee the cost of gas, it creates a warm space for the children on these cold winter mornings. The little ones too love sitting on a mat near the stove for story time.

We have also been able to buy a large catering fridge. This allows us to buy groceries in bulk and food can be stored safely.

Letcee thanks the Yeadons and the Greytown community for supporting the fund-raising event.
