IT was a close and exciting semi-final in the nominated pairs with Wessel Pretorius and Schaalk Jacobs having a close encounter with Omo Dinkelmann and Wendy Edwards on Wednesday - the scores creeping up level all the way till teatime, then Wendy kicked into top gear with some superb bowls and won the game.

Saturday saw Bryan and Pam Paul up against Jacques Minnaar and Erika Fischer, promptly losing five shots on the first end. A closely contested fight ensued with scores levelling at 10-10. Pam and Bryan gained to lead 18-14 before the scores levelled at 18-18 then 19-19 before Jacques and Erika pulled off victory at the last end.

The final will be played later because of the delayed handicap singles which start now, as does the men’s league - so a busy time for the club.
