Garden Club creates garden rooms

2016-10-05 06:00

RUDYARD Kipling once wrote: “Gardens are not made by singing ‘Oh how beautiful’, and sitting in the shade.” Much careful planning and thought goes into creating a garden that begs the visitor to explore its interest and beauty.

“Creating Garden Rooms” is the topic to be presented landscaper extraordinaire, Michelle Bodley, at the Umvoti Garden Club meeting on Tuesday 12 October. This, the final meeting of the year, is to be hosted at Fairfield Estates near Seven Oaks, at the home and garden of Rupert and Sally-Jane Crowe.
The meeting starts at 9am for 9.30am. Please bring chairs and wear suitable shoes for walking in the garden.

Michelle is a hands-on gardener and landscaper with many years’ experience of gardening in the harshly cold climate of Cedarville in East Griqualand.
The latest copy of The Gardener magazine features the beautiful garden created by Michelle over the decades while she lived on the farm aptly named “Paradise”. This is indeed proof of the fascination and interest created by building a garden of many rooms.

Following the presentation, tea and a selection of eats can be enjoyed on the lawns of Sally-Jane’s expansive garden. For members and guests wishing to gain a head-start with festive shopping, a number of stalls will be offering a variety of locally produced gifting ideas. Members are encouraged to bring guests to enjoy a social morning of gardening inspiration and gift shopping.
