Greytown Country Club news

THE Mascor Monthly Mug was played on Saturday 7 November by a good field of 25 players. Despite the effects of the most severe drought to have hit most of our country in many years, Wally Kohne is miraculously keeping our greens and tee-boxes alive without using any municipal water, which is so precious.

First in B division was Dieter Meyer on 61 net. Clearly all that practicing and playing in the previous weekend’s KZN Interclub finally paid off. Well done Dieter. Unfortunately, he could not win the Mug as he is not a member of our club. Therefore the Mug went to B. Ngonyama, who was second in the B division on 66 net. A divison first – S. Dlamini 72 net oco, and second was T. Chonco also on 72 net.
Some of our members will be playing us in the KZN Midlands Closed Tournament which will take place for the first time in many years on our course on Sunday 15 November. We wish players everything of the best and know they will make proud.
A reminder to all golfers that the course will be closed until Sunday, opening again for play on Monday the 26 November to give our greens keeper a chance to get the course ready for the Closed.

Congratulations to Ettienne van Rooyen for winning the Squash Club Championship. Shan Stamp is the ladies squash champion. Well done to both of you and thank you to all the squash players who supported this event.

Carol Owen lost out on the money as she was not present at the time of the draw.
The next attendance draw will be on Friday, 13 November with R900 up for grabs. Be here from 6.30pm and you could be the lucky winner.

Weekend golf special: R40 for nine holes and R80 for 18 holes when you come and play on a Saturday and Sunday.

The “9@9” entry fee is R40 and to play 18 holes is R80.
Richard Chiazzari is sponsoring a chicken for the “9@9” that will be up for the winning on Sunday mornings.

Dates to diarise

15 November – Midlands Closed

28 November – Beer festival.
