Greytown Country Club news

2016-11-09 06:00

THE Greytown Golf Classic was played on Saturday 5 November. Players from as far as Ballito and Pietermaritzburg joined our locals to play for the Greytown Classic Floating Trophy and wonderful prizes.
It was a special privilege to have the 2015 champions, Jimmy Crowe and Andrew Smythe, back defending their crown. Interesting to note that 1992 was the inaugural year of this trophy.

The morning field had the best of the weather as the infamous Greytown mist rolled in during the early part of the afternoon.
Special mention must be made of the sterling efforts of Wally Kohne, our green-keeper. With the help of the welcome rains he presented a lovely course to play on.

Winners of the Greytown Classic Floating Trophy for 2016 was Bigboy Ngonyama and Aaron Marinus on 48 pts. Second was Tienie and Marius Muller on 45pts oco from Richard Cyrus and Steve Muna.
We would like to thank all our magnificent sponsors, players and Elmarie and the golf committee of GCC, who did a lot of work to put the classic “on the planks”. Please see the advert with the names of our sponsors on this page.

We would like to remind our golfers about the Moths Golf Day, which will be played on 19 November. Please support this worthy cause by entering at the club or by contacting Elmarie on 033 417 2441.

Frederick Karlson lost out on the money as he was not present at the time of the draw. The next attendance draw will be on Friday 11 November with R400 up for grabs. Be here from 6.30pm and you could be the lucky winner.

Spar is sponsoring two kilograms of Spar boerewors that can be won by entering the boerie run. Timings for this 9- hole initiative are posted at the club. Please support this and enjoy playing golf. The next boerie run is Friday 11 November.

It is that time of the year again - the time to celebrate a successful year coming to an end. Book your year-end function early to avoid disappointment. Contact Elmarie on 033 417 2441 about availability and costs of the Pannar lounge for your year-end function.

The 9@9 winner on Sunday morning was Ross Goble on 18 points. Congratulations and enjoy the chicken.
Thank you to Umvoti Fuel & Oil for sponsoring the chicken.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
