Greytown Country Club news

2017-02-22 06:01

THE second annual Jaco Botha Memorial Golf Day was held at the Greytown Country Club on Saturday, 18 February in memory of Jaco Botha who died on 18 April 2015, at the age of 23 in a car accident.

Jaco was also a keen golfer who represented North West Province in the Junior Golf Foundation tournaments.

All the players enjoyed the format of the game and had much fun playing on the day.

As in 2016 a special golf ball with a picture of Jaco was given to each team - this ball played an important role in the points scored.

During the game golfers were given the opportunity to win prizes for the longest drives and nearest to the pins.

Thank you to Wally Kohne for a well prepared golf course.

We had an efficient starter in Jan Coetzer who joined us from Pretoria to be a part of this special day.

Golfers returned to supper hosted by Kammaland Primary School in the Pannar Lounge at the country club. Lizet van der Walt, principal of the school, gave some background information about the work being done at the school. Flip and Rudi Botha the golf prizes and every player received a prize.

R22 500 was raised for Kammaland Prmary School. There was also a special container at the club for stationery and books and players and guests donated items for Kammaland.

Thank you to all our guests, golfers, non-golfers, Kammaland staff and country club staff who made the Jaco Botha Memorial Golf Day a huge success.
