IT was the end of another successful school year, but before we bade each other happy holidays, there was time to honour the achievements of our primary-school pupils at an awards ceremony last Wednesday.
While every child had the chance to be called up on stage and receive recognition, there were some that merit special mention. Stephanie Meyer received a book prize for outstanding achievement in music, Kayla Shearing received the music beginner book prize, Carolina Hoffmann was rewarded for her good input in music and Henriette Jansen van Vuuren for her good progress in music, also with book prizes. Kirsten Rabe received the Heritage prize and trophy, sponsored by the Mission House Museum, for her interest in natural and social sciences and participation in the annual Mpumalanga Tour. She also received the Afrikaans prize and trophy.
Zahra Cassim received the Rudolf and Jo Aulfes trophy for achieving the highest combined mark for German, English and Afrikaans. Monique Jonker was awarded the arts and drama prize for participation in speech and drama, art lessons and the talent she displayed in the school play.
Johann Ortmann received the HMB School Trust book voucher for being an environmental enthusiast, participating in Birding Big Day, the nature club and the enviro quiz. Naseeha Mahomed was awarded the Sigrid Strobel trophy for service above self for our school.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored prizes and awards, and to parents and teachers who helped us to host the ceremony.

We wish pupils, parents and teachers, and our wider Hermannsburg family a blessed holiday and family time, and safe travels to their holiday destinations.
Next week we will report on the high school awards ceremony that were held last Thursday.
